One of the famous Safari destinations in East Africa, Samburu National Reserve is located in Northern Kenya and is a premier game reserve situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river. The reserve is a unique wildlife conservation haven famous for an abundance of rare species of animals such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx. It is also home to a population of close to 900 Elephants and large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah.
DETAILED ITINERARY: –
DAY 1: NAIROBI – SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Pickup from your hotel or airport in the morning and move northward to the Central Highlands where you cross the Equator as you approach a grand Mt. Kenya, a latent volcano with a luminous cap of snow and ice. After a short stopover, proceed with your drive to Samburu National Reserve in Kenya’s semi-desert, rugged northern frontier. En route to your lodge/camp take pleasure in your first game-viewing drive. Upon arrival in your lodge/camp, you will check in, have you lunch and a short rest before proceeding for your evening game drive. Later on, you will go back to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.
DAY 2: HIPPOS IN THE EWASO NYIRO RIVER SAMBURU
Prepare yourself for an amazing region along the Ewaso Nyiro River, Samburu is home to some of Africa’s rarest game species. The river’s permanent waters abound with crocodile and hippo and attract plenty of wildlife including the shy Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s zebra, the long-necked gerenuk antelope and the Somali ostrich. Cheetah, Leopard and lion are also found in the reserve too.
You will have a morning game viewing which commences very early when the animals are most active. Later on, retire to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before going for your evening game drive for additional game viewing.
Overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.
DAY 3: SAMBURU – NAIROBI
Leave for on last early morning game drive that promises to be thrilling. Return to the camp for breakfast. Checkout and leave for Nairobi to arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon.
